THE DEATH OF VICTOR WONG

Actor Victor Wong, most famous for his roles in John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China and Michael Cimino's Year of the Dragon delighted audiences with his hangdog facial features and his quick-witted style.
A quick search of the internet reveals a lot about Victor Wong that most people do not know.   He was friends with writer Langston Hughes, he worked as a reporter for a public TV station in San Francisco in the 1960's and was friends with beat writer Jack Kerouac.  In fact, he's even mentioned in the Kerouac book "Big Sur."

Fascinating as all that is, among the most mysterious and bizarre factoids about Victor Wong is the manner in which he died. After the events of 9/11, Victor was glued to his tv set, watching footage non-stop for two days without sleep. Concerned about the fate of his two sons that lived in NYC, Victor watched vigilantly for information and died in front of the tv.

A sad end, to an amazing man.
